  • References: References should be written in VANCOUVER format. The reference in the text is done as a number inside the parentheses at the end of the sentence or immediately after mentioning the names of the people.

General VANCOUVER referencing tips:

1- In-text references:

  1. References are presented numerically and in the order of appearance in the text.
  2. These numbers should be written in parentheses.
  3. For references to two sources, the numbers are written as (1 and 2) and for more than two sources as a numerical range (1-3).

Examples:

o Although most nanotechnology approaches are in the research or development stage, some have reached the clinical stage and are currently available on the market (3).

o Among the desirable properties of TiO2 nanoparticles are biocompatibility, fracture toughness, surface area, dielectric constant, remarkable photocatalytic properties, and cost-effectiveness (5, 6).

o Rajkumari et al. (15) synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles using aqueous extract of Aloe barbadensis leaves. The biosynthesized nanoparticles were dispersed, spherical, and had an average size of 20 nm.

2- List of references at the end of the text:

  • References should be listed numerically and in the order of appearance in the text.
  • Author names should be in the form of "last name and first initial".
  • If there are more than six authors, "et al." should be used after the sixth name.

3- DOI link: Adding the DOI link in full https:// is required for all sources with a DOI. This link should be mentioned at the end of the reference.

4- Journal names: Using journal name abbreviations according to the Vancouver format standard is required. To find the correct abbreviations, you can use the Journal Abbreviations site at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog/journals.

5- Different referencing formats:

o It is mandatory to include the DOI or DOR identifier (if available) at the end of each article reference.

o It is essential that Persian articles and sources be translated and arranged in the Vancouver Standard Format. Also, at the end of Persian references that have been translated into English, the phrase (In Persian) must be mentioned in parentheses.

  • Glossary: Given the breadth of fields of work and the interdisciplinary nature of research and published articles, it is essential that specialized terms related to the research field are accurately mentioned in the glossary to familiarize readers and facilitate understanding of the article. These terms also include the introduction of common abbreviations.
    • All specialized terms and abbreviations are numbered from the beginning of the introduction text and are also listed in the glossary in the same order. After the specialized terms and abbreviations are fully introduced, along with their Latin equivalents and abbreviations in parentheses, the use of these abbreviations will be permitted in the text.
    • These numbers are the same numbers that appear in superscript in the text and next to the Persian equivalent of the words. For example, if the phrase "... in some parts there are signs of bulging8 in the borders..." is seen in the text, it will be given in the dictionary as "8. bulging". Also, in the glossary, the first letter of Latin words, except for proper nouns, is written in lowercase.
    • Some specialized terms do not have a Persian equivalent or the defined equivalents are not universally agreed upon. In this case, the Persian version of the term can be used, according to the opinion of the authors of the article, but the English word should be presented in the glossary.
    • All abbreviations must be defined in the glossary and not in parentheses and within the text of the article. Of course, if the author does not intend to use the abbreviation in the text of the article, it is not necessary to present it in the glossary. Only the chemical composition of substances presented in the text of the article can be presented in parentheses; for example, silver nitrate (AgNO3).
  • Tables: All tables should be drawn in Persian with appropriate row and column layout. All tables should be numbered and the table description should be written above it.
  • Figures: All figures, graphs and curves should be in English. Graphs and curves should be drawn with common computer software. The size of words and various symbols should be such that they are easily readable after being reduced and inserted in the publication. Related photos should be placed next to each other with a distance of 2 mm from each other. Photos and graphs should be of excellent quality (at least 300 dpi). All figures should be sent as a single figure (do not use text boxes) and the references A, B, C and D in the figures should be placed in the right corner and above the figure. Items in images and diagrams should be named with the letters of the Persian alphabet Abjad Havaz (a, b, c, d, …).
  • Computer software: Use MS Word software to type the article. The margins on the left, right, top, and bottom of the pages should be 2.5 cm.
  • Units: All numbers should be written in terms of International System of Units (SI). If necessary, the equivalent value of quantities in terms of English units can be written in parentheses. Units (dimensions) can be presented in the text in Persian or English (symbols).
  • Equations and Relations: If relations or equations/reactions are used in the paper, they should all be typed legibly using Math Type 6 software with appropriate letters and symbols. Times New Roman 10 should be used for the main font size and Times New Roman 8 for powers and indices. Each relation or equation should have a number written inside parentheses and tangent to the right margin of the page. The numbering of relations and equations should start from (1) and end with a number equal to their number. All parameters in the relations/equations should be defined immediately after it.
  • Submitting articles: Submitting articles is only possible through the journal website. Authors can submit their articles to the journal office through the journal website at http://jame.iut.ac.ir. Authors must keep the original figures, tables, and photographs with them until the end of the evaluation process and declare in the article submission form that the submitted article has been prepared only for publication in the quarterly journal "Advanced Materials in Engineering" and has not been previously published in any other journal and is not being reviewed or evaluated by any other journal. Authors are also expected to read the duties and responsibilities of authors in the "Ethical Charter" link on the journal website and adhere to it.
  • Corresponding Author: All authors should designate a corresponding author who will communicate with the journal throughout the peer review and editing process. All authors should agree to take responsibility for all aspects of the work to ensure that any questions regarding the accuracy or integrity of the various parts of the work are properly investigated and resolved.

Note: It is worth noting that, in addition to the completion and signing of the assignment form by all authors, the conflict of interest form must also be completed and submitted by the corresponding author. It is necessary to use the forms related to assignment and conflict of interest of the article available in the forms section on the journal website.
